Why Diffuse Your Curls?

“WAIT, wait, wait, I’ve always heard its healthier to air dry curly hair!?”

Ok my curly ladies, lets talk about it.

I know you’ve been heat free for years, you did the damage before and now your definitely done with that.

But I want to tell you about how you can dry your hair faster by diffusing the RIGHT way, without damaging it.

1st

You DON’T need to use your diffuser on low and cold.

That would probably take as long as if you had it dry naturally. 😅 Remember: If your scalp is comfortable with the temperature you’re using there will be no heat damage.

2nd

No one ever said that you need to diffuse your hair from start to finish.

What if you have just a few minutes? Use them! Any water you’ll remove from your hair will result in less weight so your hair not only will take less time to dry but it also won’t be as flat on the top. It will also show the shape of your haircut much more because you won’t have your layers melt into each other.

3rd

Time yourself.

If you happen to find the time to mostly or fully diffuse your hair, I’d suggest timing yourself for at least the first two times. It may take you so much less time than you thought it would.

Let’s Talk Diffusers

When it comes to hair diffusers, the "best" one may vary depending on individual preferences and hair types. However, here are a few best options to consider:

1. DevaCurl DevaFuser: This diffuser is specifically designed for curly hair and helps to get all the way to the roots. It diffuses from the inside out as some very thick hair never gets dry on the inside, is best for super curly hair because it doesn’t lift the hair up like the round diffusers and doesn’t cause additional shrinkage.

2. Xtava Black Orchid: This diffuser has a large surface area and unique shape, allowing for maximum airflow and because its long fingers create a lot of volume by the root area it works well for different hair types the best for wavy to curly hair.

3. Dyson Supersonic Diffuser: This diffuser is an attachment for the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer. It will dry your hair in no time, I absolutely love it. It’s lightweight, yet powerful which is what makes it so quick. It’s quiet compared to other brands. Works well with any curl type, short or long, wavy or super curly. If you have a tight curl pattern and would prefer your hair not to shrink while diffusing, try not to lift the hair up with it, it uses Air Multiplier technology to disperse air evenly so the air will go through the hair drying it with no extra movements, and just a little patience on your part.

Dyson has some tips on their website for curly hair users.

4. Bed Head Curls in Check 1,875 Watt Diffuser Hair Dryer: This diffuser is actually built into a hair dryer, making it convenient for those who want an all-in-one solution. I find this diffuser great for short hair, from pixie to a touch longer. When your hair is that length it still needs drying and styling but sometimes the hair is so short how do you do that to get texture in and have some lift at the roots? NO you don’t touch it with your hand but you do with this diffuser, you gently lift and move in the desired direction as you’re drying it.

Remember to consider your specific hair needs and preferences when choosing a diffuser. It can also be helpful to read reviews and seek recommendations from others with similar hair types.

Ok my curly ladies, that’s, that you’ve got the low down on how to diffuse. I hope it helped!
